Sunday October 18th

One of the great gifts that a person can give to another person is commitment.  Jesus said, "if a marriage is going to work, a man has to leave father and mother and cleave to his wife."  Love is never cheap.  There is always a price that it is willing to bear for another.  When God loved us, He let go of His one and only Son, and let him be born of us.  Jesus, too, because of His love for us, let us go of His life and willingly suffered and died on the cross.  "No greater love can a man have than this, than to die for a friend.  You are my friends,"  Jesus said.  In a similar vein, Jesus said that if we loved Him we would feed His sheep.  We would pick up our cross and follow Him in living our life for God and for serving others.

Beautiful Savior is going to celebrate God's call to us to serve Him on Sunday, October 18th in our worship service.  We are calling this Sunday CONSECRATION SUNDAY, a day when we consecrate ourselves and all that we have to the Lord.  CONSECRATION SUNDAY will really be a celebration as we take a moment to be together and witness to our call to serve the Lord.

Please pray that God will use CONSECRATION SUNDAY to renew our faith and our commitment to Him.

Sunday September 13th

Sunday, September 13th is the day our Fall schedule resumes.  On that day Sunday school and Bible class begin.  Bible class again will be fellowship style with coffee and sweets, conversational, not lecture style and no one will be asked to read out loud.  So please join us!

Sunday school will feature a brand new format with video presentation.  Sunday school this year is intergenerational.  Parents and grandparents are encouraged to attend with their child(ren).

Sunday September, 27th

Sunday September, 27th and three Sundays following will feature Dr. Ronal Buelow in Bible class.  Dr. Buelow is professor of mathematics at Wisconsin Lutheran College and with beautiful videos will explore God's creation and it's connection with math.  Please join us for "Divine Design."

There are three long-standing traditional statistics that I would like to challenge the members of Beautiful Savior to break.  These statistics have been standing for just too long and someone should do something about them.

There's no mistake about it, we are living in a world where virtual reality is with us every day.  Electronic technology allows us to have the sense the feeling of being present in places we are really no there.  Video games, telconferencing and Web cams provide visual and audio experiences that make us feel we are with someone else, who in reality may either be only a product of special effects animation or who is a real person but is 1,000 miles away in another city.

The visible, tangible parts of God's creation are fairly easy for us to comprehend.  The book I am reading has real words in ink on real white paper that I can see.  The person walking his dog past my house, if I know him, I might walk outside and shake his hand and talk with him briefly.  It's easy to see that he's really there with his dog.  The meal I am eating I can really see and then taste the meat and the potatoes and the vegetables.  A book; another person; the meal in front of me, I can see, feel and touch.
